In Burkina Faso, one in eight children die before the age of five. This is due, in part, to low adherence to and inadequate training of Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI). IMCI is the World Health Organization’s evidence-based set of recommendations to address under-five morbidity and mortality.
Building on an IMCI eLearning tool that the Novartis Foundation developed for the World Health Organization in previous years, the Foundation continued its partnership with the Ministry of Health, Terre des Hommes, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and software social enterprise Dimagi to help launch the Integrated e-Diagnostic Approach (IeDA) in Burkina Faso.
