A newly published study protocol describes how the KaziBantu program is assessing the effect of a school-based health intervention package on risk factors for NCDs, health behaviors, and psychosocial health in primary school children in disadvantaged communities in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. In addition, the program tests a workplace health intervention for teachers.
The Novartis Foundation is partnering with the University of Basel, Nelson Mandela University and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute to trial the KaziBantu initiative across eight schools in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
